In response to the tornadoes that recently hit Oklahoma, Tool / A Perfect Circle / Puscifer singer Maynard James Keenan has reached out to help the state's Animal Resource Center. The center was damaged by the tornadoes, so to raise money for the Animal Resource Center's recovery, Keenan is auctioning off the platinum plaques he received for Tool's 'Undertow' and A Perfect Circle's 'Mer de Noms.'
A Perfect Circle
Maynard James Keenan, best known for his work in Tool, found himself inspired after his onetime guitar tech, Billy Howerdel, showed him a more melodic collection of tracks he was working on. A Perfect Circle was launched and the band's 2000 debut, 'Mer de Noms,' also featured such accomplished players as Josh Freese, making APC one of rock's most interesting side bands.
There are no words to describe the jealously coursing through our veins right now. At this year's Brazilian edition of the iconic Lollapalooza festival, musical chameleon Maynard James Keenan fronted both A Perfect Circle and Puscifer at the massive open air event. Sounds like an incredible experience, right? Well, professionally shot footage of each band's full set has now become available online!
As Maynard James Keenan and the rest of Puscifer prepare for the release of their new EP 'Donkey Punch the Night,' many fans are holding out hope for a 2013 release date for a new Tool album. While singer Maynard James Keenan recently insinuated there would be no new Tool album this year, he offers hope by stating in a new interview that he has been jamming on new material from both Tool and A Perfect Circle.
A Perfect Circle will strap on the instruments for a handful of one-off shows and festival appearances in the coming months, but the big question remains as to when we'll see new music from the band. Guitarist and founder Billy Howerdel says that while nothing is imminent, he has been working on music for the group.
Longtime A Perfect Circle drummer Josh Freese has announced his departure from the band. The group performed a handful of shows in 2011, but Freese was unable to accompany APC due to a scheduling conflict concerning Weezer, with whom Freese was touring member of from 2009-2012. Freese now seems to have other priorities, as he officially announced his exit from APC earlier today (Oct. 2).
Current A Perfect Circle and former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha has stepped back into the world of being a solo artist, with his 'Look to the Sky' album arriving next week. But, for those who want to sample it before the disc arrives in stores, Iha has united with TeamCoco.com to stream the effort a full week before its street date.
For all you hardcore A Perfect Circle fans out there, we've got some good news for you. The band has just announced that they will be playing one single show in the U.S. this year on Dec. 29, and if you want a clue as to where the elusive band will be performing, it's not in a city that both singer Maynard James Keenan and late comedian Bill Hicks have hoped to one day call "Arizona Bay," but it's pretty close by.
As we reported a few days ago, Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer singer Maynard James Keenan has signed a deal with the Phoenix New Times to write a bi-weekly column for the newspaper. Now, Keenan has jumped into his role as a gonzo journalist, as the Phoenix New Times has published the first textual offering from the prolific creator.
