Yesterday (March 17), a massive piece of news impacted the metal world that changed the career of not one, but two popular metal acts. Legendary Arch Enemy vocalist Angela Gossow stepped down from the band, allowing Alissa White-Gluz of the Agonist to take her place. This led to the Agonist recruiting a new singer, but in a new statement from White-Gluz, it was her intension to remain as the Agonist's frontwoman.
Very surprising news from extreme metal veterans Arch Enemy as highly celebrated longtime vocalist Angela Gossow has left the band! Along with a statement announcing Gossow's departure, Arch Enemy have also revealed the Agonist's Alissa White-Gluz as the group's new frontwoman. A publicity photo of the band's new lineup can be seen above.
The Agonist are a melodic death metal band from Canada fronted by the sometimes-blue-sometimes-purple-haired Alissa White-Gluz. Her clean singing voice is used even during more chaotic elements of the band’s music, which is refreshing to hear with vocalists that both sing and belt out extreme vocals.
