Black Veil Brides

With their striking blend of modern metal styles and retro-glam metal image, Black Veil Brides have risen through the ranks to establish a firm foothold in the ‘10s heavy music scene. Originally founded by singer Andy Biersack in Cincinnati, Ohio, the group spent the later half of the ‘00s struggling for recognition (even issuing a prophetically titled in-dependent album named ‘Sex & Hollywood’), until Biersack finally upped roots to Los Angeles and revived the BVB moniker with a new group of musicians, including lead guitarist Jake Pitts, rhythm, guitarist Jinxx, bassist Ashley Purdy, and drummer Sandra Alvarenga. In 2010, this lineup recorded ‘We Stitch these Wounds’ (produced by former Rob Zombie and Ozzy Osbourne sideman, Rob ‘Blasko’ Nicholson) and later signed a major label deal with Lava/Universal, abandoning what remained of their emo/screamo/metalcore roots by the following year’s ‘Set the World on Fire,’ featuring new drummer Christian ‘CC’ Coma. Now citing Def Leppard’s ‘Hysteria’ among their primary influences, Black Veil Brides mostly stuck to a middle-of-the-road heavy rock sound on follow-up albums ‘Wretched and Divine’ (2013) and the eponymous ‘Black Veil Brides’ (2014). Numerous songs from both have been plucked for use in movie soundtracks, gradually raising their profile, and the quintet has toured aggressively with the likes of Murderdolls, Avenged Sevenfold, Slash and Motley Crue.

Black Veil Brides got 2014 on the right foot as their new single 'We Don't Belong' won the very first Loudwire Cage Match of 2014. The track took just over 56 percent of the final tally to best Asking Alexandria's 'Break Down the Walls.' Now the band will move on to face a new opponent.
