Courtney Love has one less legal matter to worry about and she set a precedent in the process. Love was cleared of defamation charges Friday (Jan. 24) in Los Angeles, as a jury ruled that she did not defame San Diego attorney Rhonda Holmes in a tweet. The case marked the first-ever defamation lawsuit brought to trial over a Twitter message.
Courtney Love is currently in court due to a defamation suit filed by her onetime lawyer, Rhonda Holmes, but the case that initially brought the two together was when Love hired Holmes to help her defend her late husband Kurt Cobain's legacy.
Courtney Love was back in a courtroom Wednesday (Jan. 15) in Los Angeles as the first day of her defamation trial got underway. The singer was in court to answer to a suit filed by her former lawyer, Rhonda Holmes, who claimed that Love defamed her in a public tweet.
