Evanescence rose to mainstream success early in their career, but with their release of their latest self-titled disc, founding member Amy Lee considers her band more of an underground success. As the band kicks off the Carnival of Madness tour, Lee sat down with Fuse to talk about touring with Halestorm, her writing process and why she thinks Evanescence never fit in.
When the 2012 Carnival of Madness tour rolled into Boston, it seemed only fitting that the show would take shape under the tent of the Bank of America Pavilion on Boston’s waterfront. While the cotton candy and clowns were nowhere to be found, the spirit of rock was ever-present.
Grammy Award winning rock band Evanescence first invaded our eardrums with their infectious single ‘Bring Me to Life’ featuring Paul McCoy of 12 Stones. The tune is off of their 2003 debut studio album ‘Fallen’ which went double platinum and topped charts internationally.
After a brief hiatus, Amy Lee and Evanescence returned in 2011 with their self-titled disc, a follow up to 2006's 'The Open Door.' The band kicked off the album with a short club run at the tail end of 2011, and the photo above shows Lee pouring it all out on the stage.
After all of the relentless voting from fans in the last Cage Match, Evanescence came out as the victor over Shindeown in our closest vote ever (50.08% to 49.92%). Will Amy Lee and the gang be able to do it again against today’s challengers?
The 2012 Carnival of Madness lineup has been announced and with female fronted bands Evanescence and Halestorm leading the charge, the annual tour is chock full of girl power. But there's room for the gents, too, as Chevelle and New Medicine round out the bill, serving up a stellar lineup of today's best acts in modern hard rock.
