The eclectic Fun Fun Fun Fest has revealed this year’s full artist lineup, with Slayer, Descendents and Flag (featuring members of Black Flag) earning headlining spots throughout the three-day event scheduled for Nov. 8-10 at the Auditorium Shores in Austin, Texas.
When we spoke with Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier during their tour stop in New York City, he talked about the success of the French metal act's latest album, 'L'Enfant Sauvage,' which we documented in our recent interview feature. During that same interview, he also discussed some of his musical influences growing up and his fondness for using a certain French curse word.
It’s no surprise that Gojira’s latest album ‘L’Enfant Sauvage’ has taken metal fans by storm. The band has been touring nonstop in support of the record and is even up for a few Golden Gods Awards this year.
New York is no stranger to Gojira, and the band did not disappoint during the last show of their U.S. tour. The French metallers destroyed Irving Plaza last night (Feb. 19) with help from the Devin Townsend Project and the Atlas Moth.
Tool are one of the most critically praised and fan-worshipped bands in the world. The experimental quartet are musically complex, influential and incredibly original with both their music and videos. To celebrate the band (and probably to encourage them to finish their fifth studio album), some of today's finest musicians, such as Tom Morello and Rob Trujillo, have praised the Los Angeles manipulators of sound.
Joe Duplantier is Gojira's vocalist and rhythm guitarist, and his brother Mario is the band's drummer. The two briefly switched roles at a recent show, and there's video footage to prove it (watch below).
This year has been phenomenal when it comes to rock and metal music tours, and with 2012 coming to an end, the year will surely be remembered as one defined by many spectacular achievements. We're going to miss 2012, but Gojira, Devin Townsend and the Atlas Moth have just put together a must see tour set to pummel the year 2013.
