Keep saving your money, metal fans, because the insanely awesome tours just keep coming and coming. In our latest edition of 'Tours You'd Be Insane to Miss,' sludge metal heroes High on Fire are scheduled to embark on a North American trek with one of our personal favorites, Goatwhore, along with Columbus, Ohio natives Lo-Pan. As if that isn't cool enough, Primate (who feature members of Mastodon and Brutal Truth) and Corrosion of Conformity will each be playing select dates of the trek.
High on Fire
Three cheers for Swedish progressive metal masters Katatonia for their consecutive victories against Gojira, Nile and an incredibly impressive win against As I Lay Dying. Seemingly the underdogs throughout each of their Death Match battles, Katatonia and their track 'Dead Letters' are only one more win away from being declared immortal in the Death Match Hall of Fame.
High on Fire, 'Fertile Green'
Sludge metal merchants High on Fire have just unleashed 'Fertile Green' as the first single from their upcoming album 'De Vermis Mysteriis' -- and holy hell have they outdone themselves with this one. 'Fertile Green' is a progressively captivating trudge through a trench, with all of the band's strengths accented through masterful songwriting and flawless production.
High on Fire have traipsed over to GodCity Studios in Salem, Mass., to begin tracking their as-yet untitled sixth studio album. The band, known for their punishing, dirt-caked, bottom-heavy blend of metal, are working with producer Kurt Ballou, whose name should be familiar to discerning headbangers, as he also plays guitar in Converge. The new High on Fire disc will follow 2010's 'Snakes for the Divine,' which was the band's debut on eOne Records.
