Evil ran rampant in New York City on Saturday night (Apr. 19) as Behemoth, 1349, Goatwhore, Inquisition and Black Crown Initiate stormed the gates of Irving Plaza. With the Metal Alliance Tour in full effect and a sold-out crowd packing the venue, metalheads were in for a treat that would end in epic fashion.
The Metal Alliance tour is quickly becoming one of the most essential metal experiences in North America. Last year, the tour was heavy on thrash, but in 2014, the theme is black metal. Behemoth have just been announced as the tour's headlining act with Goatwhore, 1349, Inquisition and Black Crown Initiate supporting.
Inquisition are one of black metal's most uncompromising acts, consisting of the duo of mainman Dagon and drummer Incubus. They recently released their fifth studio album, 'Obscure Verses for the Multiverse,' which is another all-out riffing assault on the senses. The music is only half of the splendor here, with
Inquisition leader Dagon has made a career of making Immortal frontman Abbath pay dearly for only writing ‘Pure Holocaust’ once. The band takes such influence from the Immortal album that it can almost be pegged as the sole inspiration for Inquisition’s Satanic cosmological black metal onslaught. The duo who make up this band have added another astral offering to their growing legacy with ‘Obscure Verses for the Multiverse.’
