In our first head-to-head matchup in the Mosh Pit Region, we've got one of the most iconic metal bands of all-time squaring off against one of the most underrated. But did either of these acts put together a full disc worthy of being deemed the best metal disc of the 21st century? The winner of this battle will have a chance to move on to Round 2 of Loudwire's March Metal Madness 2014.
Deftones frontman Chino Moreno is a man of many projects and his latest finds him recording with several former members of the band Isis in a new group called Palms. The band has confirmed the completion of their self-titled debut album and the disc is now due June 25 through Ipecac Recordings.
Isis' sophomore album, 'Oceanic' is widely considered as one of the most significant metal-based albums of the 2000s. The band made a formidable 180 with 'Oceanic,' evolving from a crushing metal act to a more progressive and melodic experiment.
Deftones vocalist Chino Moreno has joined forces with ex-Isis members Clifford Meyer (guitar/keyboards), Jeff Caxide (bass/keyboards) and Aaron Harris (drums) to form the new band Palms.
