For over 100 years, the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) hosts a gathering like no other. A tremendous amount of talented and influential individuals from all corners of the music industry got together to share ideas, set up merch booths and witness special performances from legendary artists. Each NAMM event attracts many elite musicians to the convention, and although NAMM's Winter 2014 showcase was a success, former Megadeth drummer Nick Menza had an unpleasant run-in with ex-bandmate Dave Mustaine.
Last night (Jan. 22), metalheads were treated to the fifth installment of Metal Masters. Boasting a lineup of brilliant musicians, the 11 legendary players tore through 22 songs for a captivated Anaheim, Calif., audience. Megadeth bassist David Ellefson is a busy man. Along with holding down the low end for the thrash legends, Ellefson is currently lending his talents to Altitudes & Attitude, a project just launched with Anthrax's Frank Bello and A Perfect Circle's Jeff Friedl. The bassist is also appearing at the much-anticipated Metal Masters 5 clinic.

In the most recent contest, the band's 1990 single 'Holy Wars … the Punishment Due' bested Judas Priest's 'Painkiller' from the same year. Now, Megadeth try for their fifth and final victory and entrance into the Classic Cage Match Hall of Fame.
Megadeth just keep rolling through the Classic Cage Match. After victories over Slayer's 'Raining Blood' and Metallica's 'Master of Puppets' with their song 'Peace Sells,' Megadeth just added to their win streak as their 1990 track 'Holy Wars … The Punishment Due' defeated Pantera's 'Domination.'
