Musicians tend to shy away from the term "supergroup," but it's tough to find another word suitable for the talent that has come together for Altitudes & Attitude. The new band features Anthrax bassist Frank Bello, Megadeth bassist David Ellefson and A Perfect Circle drummer Jeff Friedl. Together, the musicians have cooked up a new EP, which will become available on Jan. 14.
Congrats to Megadeth, whose 'Peace Sells' bested Slayer's 'Raining Blood' in a battle of 1986 metal classics in our inaugural Classic Cage Match. Megadeth will now advance to face another familiar and legendary opponent.
With 30 years of experience and 14 studio albums under their belts, Megadeth are undeniable thrash legends. So, when they came to Long Island, N.Y., on Tuesday night (Dec. 3), fans packed The Paramount Theater to see their metal heroes.
As the year winds down and fewer new songs hit the airwaves, we're forgoing our traditional Cage Match in favor of the Classic Cage Match! Here we pit two classic tracks that came out long before Loudwire ever started the Cage Match and see how they fare against each other. This first-ever Classic Cage Match features two songs off legendary 1986 metal albums.
Megadeth bassist David Ellefson recently released his autobiography 'My Life With Deth.' The collaboration with veteran metal scribe Joel McIver chronicles Ellefson's younger years in Minnesota, his career in Megadeth, his struggles with addiction and eventual sobriety and his faith.
While his classmates are idolizing today's current crop of pop stars, this kid is busy channeling Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine as he performs an impressive rendition of the Megadeth classic 'Angry Again.'
Metal fans rejoiced back in 2010 and 2011 when the Big 4 of thrash (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax) joined forces for a handful of shows around the world, including the most recent one at New York's Yankee Stadium in September 2011. Fans still holding out hope that these four metal powerhouses might join forces again on the same stage in the future may not get their way.
Directly off of a tour of Central and South America supporting Black Sabbath, American thrash legends Megadeth kicked off a string of U.S. tour dates last night (Oct. 29) at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
Whoa! Two guitar gods who also happen to front their band are going at it in the first round of our Greatest Metal Frontman tournament! Thrash shredder Dave Mustaine is going to war with the neoclassical new schooler Alexi Laiho.
