Philip Anselmo tells Loudwire why Dimebag Darrell was the greatest metal guitarist.
As the singer of one of the genre's greatest bands, Philip H. Anselmo's legendary status is well cemented in the world of heavy metal. But Anselmo is certainly not one to rest on his past success, as evident by the passion and force in which he performed on Friday night (Aug. 16) in New York City.
For music fans looking for a good cause to get behind, the annual ‘Ride for Dime’ event is just around the corner scheduled for Aug. 16 and 17 in Texas. With events scheduled in both Fort Worth and Dallas, friends, fans and family members will all join forces to remember Pantera guitarist “Dimebag" Darrell Abbott with a motorcycle ride followed by two nights of great music.
On Tuesday, July 31, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals kicked off their U.S tour in Tulsa, Okla. During the show, Anselmo invited a young fan who is battling cancer to come onstage with the band to help perform a rendition of Pantera‘s 'Walk' (watch fan-shot video above) via the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals are set to embark on their first-ever tour beginning July 31 in Tulsa, Okla. Anselmo and the boys are sure to play plenty of material from the act's debut album, 'Walk Through Exits Only' (due July 16), but if you could hand-pick your dream Anselmo set list, which Pantera, Superjoint Ritual and Down songs would you add?
Despite the tragic death of shredder 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott and the hostility held between certain members of the great Pantera, there has been rumblings of a possible reunion of the band for the past few years. Pantera / Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul hasn't been one to pioneer any sort of reunion, and while paying tribute to late Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman along with his late brother Dimebag, the drummer addressed the Pantera situation with a simple bat-away.
Leave it to Kiss to bring four diverse rockers together for a new project. Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal and Pantera and Kill Devil Hill bassist Rex Brown are just two of the members of the new all-star Kiss tribute band A.L.I.V.E.!. A.L.I.V.E.! also features former Whitesnake drummer Brian Tichy, and Kill Devil Hill guitarist Mark Zavon. The foursome are calling their new collaboration A.L.I.V.E.! a true tribute to ‘70s era Kiss.
