Russian punk rock collective Pussy Riot have fired back at Russian President Vladimir Putin and the two-year prison sentence handed down to three Pussy Riot members in a new video message. The international music community has shown tremendous support for Pussy Riot, and the band has created a video of the masked female musicians thanking bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day, while burning a photo of Russia's President Putin.

Members of Russian Punk Band Pussy Riot Receive Two-Year Prison Sentence for ‘Hooliganism’

Having spent the last five months detained in Russia, the verdict for three members of the feminist punk rock band Pussy Riot was delivered today (Aug. 17). The women, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 23, Maria Alekhina, 24 and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 29, have been sentenced to two years in Russian prison for their alleged crime of “hooliganism.”
