With uncertainty surrounding System of a Down's future recording plans, fans of the band are anxiously awaiting the next offering from Scars on Broadway. Fronted by System singer-guitarist Daron Malakian, Scars on Broadway released one solitary self-titled album in 2008, but according to Malakian, a new Scars effort will likely drop in early 2013.
Scars on Broadway
Guitarist Daron Malakian (System of a Down, Scars on Broadway) sat down for an interview with KROQ recently, with the conversation turning towards politics and religion. After a slight dejection from Malakian, the guitarist found himself diving into the topic, sharing his views on President Obama's first term, how organized religion can destroy the personal experience, global terrorism + much more.
Scars on Broadway's live shows have been few and far between since they released their self-titled debut disc in 2008, but singer and lead guitarist Daron Malakian has reconfigured the band's lineup and is ready to hit the road this fall. The group's first performance on their current run with Deftones came Sept. 22 in Irvine, Calif. as part of the Epicenter Festival.
Deftones have confirmed that their seventh studio album is titled 'Koi No Yokan,' and it will be released on Nov. 13. The 'Tones, who spent a chunk of their summer on the road with System of a Down, will support 'Koi No Yokan' with a headline tour. They will be joined by special guests Scars on Broadway, featuring SOAD guitarist Daron Malakian.
System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan has worked with various artists since the band's hiatus in 2006. Along with contributing to the solo career of System frontman Serj Tankian, Dolmayan has been the drummer for the Daron Malakian side project Scars on Broadway. However, in a recent interview, Dolmayan revealed that he is no longer a member of Scars on Broadway, despite the band currently working on a new album.
