Serj Tankian - Page 3
Here's an interesting match for the President of Metal. On the left in the image above but on the right in the political spectrum, we've got Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, who is one of music's most vocal conservatives. But in the realm of metal, he's the frontman responsible for 13 Megadeth albums. He also played in a little band called Metallica during the band's early stages.
Those who've followed Serj Tankian since System of a Down first went on hiatus have seen the singer follow a variety of muses, including a growing love of orchestral music. Tankian is now ready to take his biggest step yet in the orchestral direction by recording his first-ever full symphony record, and he's launched a Kickstarter campaign to make his musical dream come true.
Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, System of a Down singer Serj Tankian and Rise Against frontman Tim McIlrath have joined forces to create an unofficial anthem for the Occupy Wall Street movement. Morello recently performed a free show to mark the one-year anniversary of Occupy and to help "re-energize" the political faction.
System of a Down kicked off a brief North American summer tour with Deftones last night (Aug. 2) in Camden, N.J.
