Father to son bonds are always viewed as one of the most endearing relationships two people can have. Often times, a son will idolize his father and become a fan of the same sports teams and share similar hobbies. Here, we see a father and his 3-year-old son sharing musical tastes during a rendition of ... wait for it ... Slayer's 'Raining Blood'!
We were recently given the privilege of speaking with Slayer frontman Tom Araya for an exclusive interview. Our chat with Araya was truly unique, as you'll see while we roll out more and more of the interview in the very near future. In this portion of our talk, Araya opened up to reveal the moment he heard that Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman had passed away.
Believe it or not, but Slayer had never actually played a Rock in Rio festival gig until last night (Sept. 22). On the same bill as Iron Maiden and Avenged Sevenfold, Slayer pummeled the Brazilian crowd with some pure American thrash, and here you can watch footage from the band's Rock in Rio 2013 set.
Back in the day, kids used to have to hide their "devil music" from their parents. Bands like Slayer were household taboo and if you were caught listening to them or even having one of their records, it could mean you're seeing nothing but the four walls of your room for the next couple weekends. Now, parents are showing their kids Slayer and the results are astonishing.
After previously announcing concerts in Los Angeles and New York, Slayer have now revealed they will be embarking on a full, five week tour of North America. The trek launches Oct. 22 in Anchorage, Alaska (the first time Slayer has played there since 1996) with supporting bands Gojira and 4Arm.
Of course, the metal world misses iconic Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman. The axeman was one of thrash metal's greatest songwriters and it's truly sad that Hanneman will never bestow us with another gigantic riff. As much as we miss Hanneman, it's nothing compared to what the guitarist's wife Kathryn must be going through. In memory of her late husband, Kathryn Hanneman recently shared the sort-of heartwarming and metal-as-hell story of how the two met.
Who? What? Where? When? How? In a report from the Patch, metal hooligans in Commack, New York, vandalized a building in Wicks Park by painting the Slayer logo and a pentagram alongside it (see a photo of the graffiti here). Local police initially investigated the vandalism to be associated with a hate crime after a resident had placed a call to the authorities.
