Congrats to The Offspring, who will be saluted with the Orange County Impact and Lifetime Achievement honor at the annual OC Music Awards. The honor annually goes to a renowned local band or artist that has left a major impact on the Orange County music scene, and the Huntington Beach, Calif. natives have definitely done that.
In its fifth year, the Epicenter festival turned its attention to old-school punk stalwarts and up-and-coming scenesters. With veterans like the Offspring, Bad Religion and Pennywise joined by A Day to Remember, Pierce the Veil, All Time Low and Falling in Reverse, the day offered good times and rapid-fire rock.
Epicenter, aka ‘Southern California’s Rock Festival,’ celebrates its fifth anniversary this year with a lineup that pays tribute to its Southland roots. Local alt-rock heroes The Offspring, Bad Religion and Pennywise will be performing alongside new homegrown bands like Pierce the Veil, Fidlar and Plague Vendor. The lineup on the main stage will also feature A Day To Remember, All Time Low and Falling in Reverse.
We've got news on yet another awesome 2013 festival to share with you. The fifth annual Epicenter Festival has just announced the first part of its 2013 bill. The Offspring are set to headline the event, with Bad Religion, A Day to Remember, Pennywise and many more confirmed to occupy the rest of the fest's lineup.
There are an incredible amount of hard rock and metal music festivals held worldwide as the summer season stretches from May to September. There's Mayhem, Rock on the Range, Reading, Leeds, Download, Hellfest, Wacken and Bloodstock, just to name a few. But for connoisseurs of punk rock who are looking for a major festival, an incredible lineup has just been put together for the 2013 Amnesia Rockfest in Quebec, Canada, with some hard rock and metal sprinkled in, as well.
Acclaimed sound engineer Bryan Carlstrom (Alice in Chains, the Offspring) has tragically passed away at the age of 51. Carlstrom was one of the most important engineers/producers in the world of hard rock, modern punk and metal, having contributed to well over 100 albums, including engineering the Alice in Chains masterpiece 'Dirt' and the Offspring favorites 'Ixnay on the Hombre' and 'Americana.'
In late 2012, the Offspring toured with Dead Sara. During the Offpsring's set, Emily Armstrong from Dead Sara would join the band for a stripped down version of 'Gone Away.' A video of an October performance of the song at a show at the Hollywood Palladium, as well as footage of the pair recording a studio version of the song, has been released (watch below).
