Velvet Revolver may be closer to finding a new vocalist. The latest name to pop up is Ours lead singer Jimmy Gnecco.

Gnecco served as lead vocalist on three songs (Velvet Revolver's 'Slither,' the Guns N' Roses classic 'It's So Easy' and Jimi Hendrix Experience's 'Hey Joe') during the Road Recovery concert with Velvet Revolver members Duff McKagan, Slash and Matt Sorum, among others.

In an interview with OCWeekly.com, McKagan says, "Slash and I played in New York a couple weeks ago and Matt Sorum was there. There was a singer there we might write some songs with. None of us have really tried [to find anyone] in the last few years. We've all been busy with other things."

He continues, "I think once that whole thing went down with Scott [Weiland], we thought we'd find a guy right away. Once a few months went by, it was like, "Oh f---."

Velvet Revolver have been on hiatus since splitting with Weiland, but Mckagan says, "We didn't give up on the band but you can't force a singer into a situation. It's got to just kind of happen. So playing a few weeks ago with that singer, it seemed really natural. So we'll see. I'll come back to you on that."

Velvet Revolver also recorded with Slipknot / Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, but that didn't work out.
