Welcome to August, traditionally one of the hottest months of the year. And rest assured that carries over to the music release schedule as a wealth of scorching new platters are ready to drop during the month of August. But which of these new offerings do you most want to pick up and crank it on 11? We want to know, with your votes helping us to determine the Loudwire August 2016 Release of the Month.

There are four big release dates during August, starting on Aug. 5 with new albums from Skillet, Islander, Tarja, Carnifex, The Dead Daisies, Jackyl and Blues Pills among others. The following week, Aug. 12, you'll find fresh releases from The Amity Affliction, Citizen Zero, Metal Allegiance and The Pineapple Thief.

On Aug. 19, look for A Day to Remember, Gemini Syndrome, Sabaton, One Less Reason, Soilwork and the Color Morale issuing new albums. Then, finishing out the month on Aug. 26, look for discs from Michael Sweet, Sodom, Delain, Dinosaur Pile-Up and The Apocalypse Blues Revue.
