Metallica have been honoring local artists during each concert of the European leg of their current WorldWired Tour. During the second night of their two-night stand in Stockholm, Sweden, they paid tribute to local legends and worldwide sensation ABBA.

On Monday night (May 7), Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett surprised fans at the Ericsson Globe by covering the ABBA classic "Dancing Queen" during their nightly "doodle" segment. Watch the pro-shot video in the player above.

During the group's first show in Stockholm on Saturday (May 5), Trujillo and Hammett covered "The Final Countdown" by Europe. The duo also recently covered the '80s classic "Take On Me" by A-ha in Norway, Michael Schenker Group’s “Into the Arena” and UFO’s “Rock Bottom” in Hamburg, Germany, Accept's "Balls to the Wall" in Leipzig, Germany and they honored German star Peter Schilling's "Major Tom (Coming Home)" at a show in Stuttgart, Germany.

Metallica wraps their European tour with a two-night stand at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland on May 9 and 11. Who knows what's in store for those shows? Perhaps they can cover Him or Children of Bodom. They will kick off their North American leg of the WorldWired Tour in Madison, Wisc. on Sept. 2. See all their tour dates here.
