He sounds a whole lot different with an acoustic guitar in his hand and no backing band than he does fronting the nine-headed beast Slipknot or the hard rock outfit Stone Sour, but regardless of environment he's in, Corey Taylor has presence and star power, as he proved on Oct. 22 at ZZ Top's La Grange Fest in Austin, Texas.

Taylor's set consisted mostly of Stone Sour songs, including the hit 'Bother,' from the band's 2002 self-titled debut and 'Hesitate,' from 2010's 'Audio Secrecy.' Amateur video of both can be viewed below.

In November, Taylor will launch a North American solo tour, 'An Evening With Corey Taylor,' during which Taylor will play solo acoustic, read from his recently released book 'Seven Deadly Sins: Settling the Argument Between Born Bad and Damaged Goods,' and will conduct a question-and-answer session with the crowd. Dates begin Nov. 14 in Anaheim, Calif., and run through Dec. 13 in Orlando, Fla.

Stone Sour will release a concert DVD and cover songs EP together before year's end. According to Blabbermouth.net, Corey has said that Stone Sour's next album will probably be recorded in 2012 and that it could be a concept record.
