A two-day hostage crisis in Arvada, Colo., has caused panic in the neighborhood as a 13-year-old boy is being held captive by an armed suspect. The situation has been ongoing since Feb. 3 at 5:30 PM local time, and now it has been revealed that the teen being held hostage is a family member of Korn guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch.

According to Fox 31 Denver, the suspect reportedly picked a random home and kicked the door down. Some family members inside the home were able to escape once the suspect entered, but the 13-year-old was unable to flea and taken hostage. Fox also reported that the alleged suspect is considered armed and dangerous and has a previous criminal record. Traffic has been blocked off for several blocks around the home.

“We have been in contact with the suspect,” Arvada Police spokesperson Jill McGranahan said. “We’re working very hard to end this situation peacefully.”

At around 12:45 PM ET today, Brian 'Head' Welch tweeted the story, revealing that the 13-year-old hostage is his cousin's son:

Once again, as stated in the update above, the 13-year-old boy is safe while the suspect has been killed.
