Foo Fighters Win 2012 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance

Foo Fighters kept their winning streak going during the 54th annual Grammy Awards ceremony by picking up the trophy for Best Rock Performance. This came after the band nabbed four trophies during the pre-telecast ceremony.

The Foos received the honor from a couple of other recent big winners -- wide receivers Mario Manningham and Victor Cruz of the Super Bowl champs the New York Giants. Before announcing the winner, Cruz gave the audience a little taste of his touchdown-scoring salsa dance at the request of co-presenter Pauley Perrette of 'NCIS.'

Upon hearing their name announced as the winner, the Foos, fresh off a performance of 'Walk,' took the stage with producer Butch Vig to receive the award.

Sporting a blazer and a Slayer shirt, frontman Dave Grohl spoke for the band: "This is a great honor because this record was a special record for our band ... We made this one in my garage with some microphones and a tape machine."

He continued, "We couldn't have done it without the best producer in the world in Butch Vig ... We met each other 20 years ago when we made a Nirvana record and it was an honor to work with you again."

Grohl concluded, "This award means a lot because it shows that the human element of making music is what's most important. Singing into a microphone and learning to play an instrument and learning to do your craft, that's the most important thing for people to do."

The Foo Fighters frontman's speech got cut off before he was done, but you can hear him shout "Long live rock 'n' roll" before the band left the stage.

At the pre-telecast ceremony earlier in the evening, the Foos won trophies for Best Rock Album, Best Rock Song, Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance and Best Long Form Video.
