Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is known as one of the nicest guys in rock and has definitely been generous with fans over the years. Now, he's hoping to fulfill the wish of an ailing fan who recently missed out on a chance to meet the band when the Foos had to cancel a show.

Ken Powell has battled melanoma cancer for 14 years, but in 2009 it had gotten so bad that it was classified as Stage 4 and terminal. Though he's undergone two brain surgeries, radiation and a trial treatments, Powell's prognosis is still terminal. As such, he's attempting to finish a bucket list of things he wants to do before he passes and among them is meeting Dave Grohl, the frontman of Powell's favorite band.

As Yahoo News Australia reports, the 56-year-old Powell almost got his wish when Foo Fighters recently toured Australia, but unfortunately, a bout of food poisoning led Grohl to cancel all meet-and-greets with fans. "That was our quest -- to try and meet the band. We came close in Perth, but it didn't happen," says Powell.

But Powell lucked out in that the Foos were flying Qantas airlines and a flight attendant who knew of Powell's goal shared his story with the band. Grohl offered his support in the form of a photo with a sign to Powell, assorted Foo Fighters souvenirs, an autograph and VIP tickets to the band's Los Angeles performance.

Powell's daughter Tara has since set up a Facebook page and there's also a Go Fund Me page that's been launched to help the man fulfill his wish. The 'Ken the Foo Fighter - My Hero' page has been quickly gaining support online with over 5,000 "likes" at press time. Powell stated that creating a bucket list and setting life objectives is one of the things that drives him day-to-day. He's attempting to raise $20,000 to cover the expenses of the trip, with any additional funds raised going to melanoma research at the Melanoma Institute of Australia.
