Godsmack's Sully Erna continues to expand his horizons, and his involvement at an upcoming boxing benefit will come in a form other than his musical presence. Erna will serve as a cornerman during the evening.

The vocalist has long had a passion for boxing and is now professionally licensed to be a cornerman. He'll tend to two-time national PAL amateur champion David Tubbs when the boxer makes his professional debut against Ranieri Souza in a four-round light heavyweight fight at the upcoming Scars for Scars benefit.

Erna will join trainer Joseph "Hoss" Janik of KnuckleHeadz Boxing in Tubbs' corner, with the trainer revealing, "I recently met Sully through a mutual friend. We hit it off immediately. I was impressed with Sully's knowledge and passion for boxing. I spoke with David and we agreed that with Sully's charity involved in the event, it would be great for him to join us to share some knowledge in the locker room and in the corner."

The singer added, "Anyone who knows me, knows what a passion I have for boxing. I've spent the last 19 years training and learning from so many great coaches from Freddie Roach's camp, to one of New England's best boxing coaches, Julio Peña, right here in Londonderry, New Hampshire. So I'm extremely honored to have been asked to work this corner with Hoss. He's the real deal, and so is David Tubbs. Wait 'til you see him fight. It is going to be a phenomenal night of pro boxing."

"Scars for Scars" will aid Erna's charitable organization, The Scars Foundation. In all, there will be eight boxing matches taking place, while there will also be raffled items for those in attendance, with the proceeds for the night helping to raise awareness for mental health issues.

"Scars for Scars" will take place Friday, Aug. 16 at Nashua Community College (1 Broadway, Nashua, NH., 02149). Tickets are on sale now right here.
