This matchup is a bit like David and Goliath. Iron Maiden boast one of metal’s most beloved mascots in Eddie the Head while Stormtroopers of Death’s (S.O.D.) Sargent D. is the reason the whole band came to be in the first place.

Featured on album art or ripping up the stage with multiple appearances each set, Eddie is revered by metal fans everywhere. First starting off as a kabuki mask that would spill blood from the mouth during Iron Maiden's eponymous song back in the day, this mascot has come a long way. Eddie has been a killer, a tree, a cloud, a mummy, and a lot more throughout his 35-plus year tenure with the band.

While many were doodling Eddie on notebooks, Anthrax's Scott Ian was drawing his own character. Ian dubbed the character Sargent D. and would often depict him saying sarcastic and offense things. Inspired by this drawing, crossover thrash band Stormtroopers of Death was formed. The band’s lyrics followed suit with Sargent D.’s humorously offensive quips, using their mascot as the group's mouthpiece.
