The collective hearts of metalheads worldwide were simultaneously broken as legendary vocalist Rob Halford decided to leave Judas Priest in 1991, reportedly due to internal tension between band members. He officially parted ways with Judas Priest in 1992, and was replaced by Tim 'Ripper' Owens in 1996.

Although Owens was impressive with his own talents, Priest fans rejoiced in 2003 when the 'Metal God' Rob Halford returned to the band. Judas Priest's 2004 landmark reunion tour began in Europe with supporting act Annihilator, along with a cluster of U.S. dates for the Ozzfest 2004 tour.
