Listen to Bullet for My Valentine’s Experimental New Song ‘Letting You Go’
Bullet for My Valentine have released a new track from their upcoming sixth full-length album Gravity, which comes out June 29. "Letting You Go" features a heavily syncopated rhythm, choppy, palm-muted guitar and plenty of sustained chord heaviness. as well as the band's trademark euphoric melodic hooks.
For frontman Matt Tuck, the song was the greatest obstacle he faced while the band worked on Gravity. "'Letting You Go' was a very challenging song to write in so many ways," he told Metal Hammer. "It's by far the most experimental track I've ever written musically and lyrically."
Tuck spent so much time analyzing and fine-tuning the song because he wanted something on the record that was unlike anything Bullet for My Valentine had previously done. “I really wanted to make a track that stood out from the crowd and separated us from any other band in our genre," he said. "And that's exactly what 'Letting You Go' does.”
Gravity will be the the follow-up to the band's 2015 album Venom, which was its first since the departure of bassist Jason "Jay" James, who left in February of that year and was replaced by Jamie Mathias. The new album marks the studio debut for drummer Jason Bowld, who replaced Michael "Moose" Thomas in 2016.
Bullet for My Valentine will play Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio tomorrow (May 19) and you can stream their performance via Loudwire. The band will launch a full tour to support Gravity, starting Sept. 13 in Kansas City, Mo. Dates run through Oct. 16 in Las Vegas.
