West Coast metal is alive and thriving in this 2013 March Metal Madness Mosh Pit Region battle. This first round matchup pits Megadeth's 'Rust in Peace' against Testament's 'The Legacy' to determine which act will advance in the fight to determine the best metal album of all-time.

Megadeth earned their "Big 4" status due in part to the greatness they provided on the 1990 album, 'Rust in Peace.' Longtime Megadeth cohorts Dave Mustaine and Dave Ellefson received an infusion of rock with guitarist Marty Friedman and drummer Nick Menza on this classic disc. The album featured the standout cuts 'Holy Wars … The Punishment Due' and 'Hangar 18' and it was recognized for its excellence with a pair of Grammy nominations.

Testament arrived in 1987 with 'The Legacy,' an aptly titled disc that just added to the great thrash metal music coming out of the Bay Area. The album introduced us to the powerful vocals of Chuck Billy and the twin guitar attack of Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick. 'Burnt Offerings,' Apocalyptic City' and 'First Strike Is Deadly' remain tracks that have stood the test of time and provided the building blocks for one of metal's most consistent bands.

So which of these 2012 tour mates has the better album? Megadeth's 'Rust in Peace' and Testament's 'The Legacy' are competing for your vote. Let us know which is your favorite in the poll below.

(This poll will end on Monday, March 18 at 11:59 PM EST. Fans are able to vote once per hour, so keep coming back to make sure your favorite album wins!)
