Looking for the perfect book for the grunge lover in your life? Mark a big red circle (with a capital "A" in the center) around Sept. 6 on your calendar -- that's the publication date that's just been announced for ‘Everybody Loves Our Town: An Oral History of Grunge.’

The main text of the book, which was penned by Mark Yarm, is based on more than 250 original interviews that the former Blender editor (not Mudhoney singer Mark Arm) conducted with the rockers, scenesters, producers and label execs that made Seattle the epicenter of the alternative nation in the '90s.

Members of grunge goliaths Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Hole and Candlebox, plus lesser-known acts Mother Love Bone, L7, Green River and the Melvins are among the dozens of musicians quoted in the book.

'Our Town' is garnering rave reviews. Best-selling author Lev Grossman called it "utterly brilliant," adding "I finally understand the 1990s now." Critic Dave Szatmary recommends pairing it with Greg Prato's ‘Grunge Is Dead: The Oral History of Seattle Rock Music’: "[Together] they provide a definitive history of an important chapter in rock 'n' roll."

Yarm will celebrate the release of 'Our Town' by reading select passages during a Sept. 7 party in Brooklyn, N.Y., and he will also appear at the Experience Music Project Museum in Seattle on Sept. 20. In the meantime, he has been teasing readers with a constant stream of excerpts from the book on his Twitter and Tumblr accounts.
