Former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing recently took to his official blog to write about his personal contribution to Geoff Tate's Queensryche's new album, 'Frequency Unknown.' Much criticism and controversy is currently whirling around the head of Tate, and Downing addresses his reasoning for the new collaboration, along with a funny story about nearly being killed by a couch.

A little constructive criticism never hurts, but Geoff Tate is ready to confront some full-on hate head-on with a new contest. The Queensryche frontman and his reconstructed lineup are now promoting their latest effort, 'Frequency Unknown,' and have launched an interesting competition in which they're challenging haters to stand up for their opinion and film a rant about the album.

Geoff Tate has yet to play his first gig with his newly created Queensryche lineup and already he's down one member. Tate revealed earlier this year that former Megadeth and King Diamond guitarist Glen Drover would be part of his version of the band, but Drover has just announced his exit.

There will continue to be two Queensryches, at least for the time being, as a Washington state judge ruled Friday (Oct. 19) in favor of Geoff Tate, allowing the singer to perform with his own version of the group after being ousted from his former band earlier this year.

At present, there are two versions of Queensryche as a result of Geoff Tate's ousting from the band and the inability of the courts to sort out all the legalities as of yet. Tate initially filed an injunction attempting to keep the rest of the band from using the name, but did not succeed. Geoff Tate has been battling with his former Queensryche bandmates and putting together a competing band lineup. He's also releasing a solo album, and has revealed the cover art and track listing for 'Kings & Thieves,' which is set to be released Nov. 6 through Inside Out Music.

The battle for Queensryche rages on. After being booted from the band earlier this year and then engaging in legal battles with the former members over the rights to the name, former Queensryche singer Geoff Tate has posted the lineup for his version of the band. This situation is turning into a soap opera.

Things have definitely gotten ugly and litigious with Queensryche over the past few months, but ousted vocalist Geoff Tate says that it would be a good thing if both he and his former bandmates would have a sit-down conversation rather than having everything play out online and in the courts.
