Dave Grohl took home his second Grammy of the day, this time winning for Best Rock Song at the 2014 Grammy Awards for 'Cut Me Some Slack' with his collaborators Paul McCartney, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear. The song comes from the 'Sound City: Real to Reel' soundtrack, which won earlier in the day for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

Pat Smear joined Nirvana in 1993 as a second guitarist and recently shared his personal thoughts on the legacy of the music and his feelings about the surviving members playing Nirvana songs live in the absence of Kurt Cobain, who died in 1994.

It's almost been 20 years since Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain took his own life. Despite the band's dissolution afterwards, fans still go nuts for the grunge band's ageless music. This interest has led to an interview with Foo Fighters member, Nirvana touring guitarist and founding Germs member, Pat Smear, who spoke in depth about his time jamming with the group.

Nirvana are most famously known as a three-piece act, but the seminal grunge band cranked up the volume by welcoming Germs / Adolescents guitarist Pat Smear into the band. Smear performed with Nirvana during the 'In Utero' tour up until frontman Kurt Cobain's death in 1994, but although Smear got the gig, he wasn't the only musician Nirvana were considering.

Debuted during the '12-12-12' benefit concert in December, 'Cut Me Some Slack' emerged as one of the most discussed collaborations in years. But once the novelty of Nirvana's surviving members playing together again with the legendary Paul McCartney on vocals wore off, there was still one hell of a rock song.

After a triumphant performance of their new song 'Cut Me Some Slack' at the 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief at Madison Square Garden, one-time Nirvana members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear again joined forces with Beatles legend Paul McCartney to perform the song during last night's episode of 'Saturday Night Live.'
