After what seems like an eternity, the 2016 U.S. presidential election will soon come to a merciful end. This election cycle has been the most divisive in recent memory, leading to many musical acts demanding candidates cease using their music on the campaign trail.

Twisted Sister’s iconic protest anthem “We’re Not Gonna Take It” is easily one of the most popular songs to be adopted by prospective political leaders. In just the last few years, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and Donald Trump have chosen to use the song, but all three were slapped down by Dee Snider.

Trump has turned off a long list of musicians during his run for office. Queen’s Brian May forced Trump to stop using “We Are the Champions” while The Rolling Stones called for the Republican candidate to discontinue his use of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” Hillary Clinton certainly isn’t exempt from this Loud List. Bikini Kill objected to the utilization of “Rebel Girl” in a pro-Clinton advertisement.

Celtic punk legends Dropkick Murphys were more than just a little pissed off when anti-union Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker decided to play “Shipping Up to Boston” during his campaign. The Murphys put a venomous stop to Walker by tweeting at the governor, “We literally hate you!!!”.
