The past year has been a difficult one for Suicide Silence, who lost their frontman Mitch Lucker in a tragic motorcycle crash on Halloween night. In the period since, the band have been mourning his loss, starting with a major memorial show last fall featuring a number of rock's top names, then in private.
Broken Hope are back in action and there may be no one more happy about it than guitarist Jeremy Wagner. After a solid run of five studio albums in the '90s, the death metal group suffered some difficult times as the 2000s arrived. But after putting aside past issues, the band has re-formed and is once again working on new music.
After exiting Metallica just over a decade ago, bassist Jason Newsted followed his heart, exploring passion projects like recording with Voivod, playing shows with Ozzy Osbourne, and making a few guest appearances. But in recent history, he began to get the itch to not only form a new band, but also to be its creative leader and thus the self-titled act known as Newsted began.
Ilan Rubin is a man of many musical talents and most of them are put on display in his longtime band the New Regime. Having already released two full-length albums under the moniker, the multi-instrumentalist decided to break up his wealth of recent creativity into a series of EPs, with the 'Exhibit A' disc just arriving in stores and 'Exhibit B' currently a work-in-progress that's expected later this year.
These are the best of times for Korn, who have reunited with guitarist Brian "Head" Welch both onstage and in the studio. Loudwire met up with Head and fellow Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer on the Revolver Golden Gods Black Carpet and discussed reviving the onetime dynamic and how it feels to renew the personal and professional relationship. Ever since their latest album ‘Dark Adrenaline’ dropped, Lacuna Coil have been touring nonstop. Fans in the States were lucky enough to catch the Italian metalers on tour with Sevendust this spring. During their New York City stop, co-vocalists Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro stopped by the Loudwire studio for a video interview (watch below).
Alice in Chains are getting ready to release their second album with singer-guitarist William DuVall in the fold, as well as co-headline the upcoming Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival. The band's latest effort, 'The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here,' is due on May 28 and Loudwire recently had a chance to speak with singer-guitarist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney about the experience of putting the disc together.
