Metal’s most evil subgenre can get extremely silly at times. Thanks to a YouTube wormhole that may never again be detected by physicists, we put together these 10 Ridiculous Black Metal Moments!

Before Immortal became one of black metal’s all-time great bands, they were just some pale dudes in the forest. The band’s video for “The Call of the Wintermoon” has become an ironic favorite for black metal purists, thanks to Abbath, Demonaz and Armagedda running around breathing fire and wearing dollar store witch costumes. Like every black metal video in the early ‘90s, “The Call of the Wintermoon” has that classic low-fi charm.

If you want your dose of cringe, we’ve got your guy. Ever heard of Fadades? The one-man black metal / industrial project has released a bunch of endlessly entertaining clips. Remember those “Make Your Own Music Video” places in the mall? Fadades is their most prolific patron of all time. Why go through the trouble of finding an actual graveyard when you can just have one projected behind you? Nobody will know the difference.

Of course, we had to include our all-time favorite drunken black metal warriors, Azazel. The band’s drunken performance at Steelfest went viral this year, as it was the perfect storm of terrible music and a complete lack of self awareness. The band’s guitarist literally fell off the stage while vocalist Lord Satanachia simply decided not to leave the stage after Azazel’s performance was finished. To add insult to injury, one concertgoer yelled “nice tits!” to a seated Satanachia.
