The history of rock and metal has always been laced with legal troubles. Mostly these incidents are simple arrests due to fights and intoxicated offenses, but some incredibly successful musicians have gone down criminal paths which have shocked and horrified millions.

Some of the most extreme incidents in rock history have taken place just in the past few years. As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis is currently serving a six year sentence for attempting to hire a hitman to murder his wife. This news was shocking to both fans and friends of Lambesis who had known the vocalist as a kind Christian man.

Perhaps the most shocking rock crime in history involves Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins, who pleaded guilty to over a dozen child sex offenses. The nature of his crimes are extremely disturbing and Watkins is now behind bars serving a 29 year prison sentence.

Other shocking crimes you’ll see in this video include producer Phil Spector‘s murder conviction, Burzum‘s Varg Vikernes‘ sentencing for the murder of Mayhem guitarist Euronymous, AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd‘s trial for “threatening to kill” and drug possession and more.
