Record Store Day 2016 is just a bit over one month away, with the official date set for April 16. The event is held on the third Saturday of April every year since 2008 to celebrate the the record store experience. Each year, scores of bands release exclusive Record Store Day titles, usually in limited edition vinyl, where fans can scoop up prized gems to add to their collection.

An ambassador has been selected to represent the event, and this year it's the members of Metallica. The Record Store Day ambassadors will celebrate by releasing a special live album, Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité, Metallica! – Live at Le Bataclan. Paris, France – June 11th, 2003. The band has tied the release to helping in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks that occurred at Le Bataclan last fall while the Eagles of Death Metal were playing. All proceeds from the sale of the album will go to the Fondation de France's Give For France charity.

The band released an eight-minute video (seen below) detailing their appreciation for vinyl records and they discuss their experiences from childhood and early adulthood. Each member shares personal experiences of going to independent record stores and scouring the racks for new albums from some of rock's best like Motorhead, Scorpions and more.
