3 Doors Down bassist Todd Harrell was arrested late Friday night (April 19) in Nashville and charged with vehicular homicide following a car crash, according to TMZ.

Police state that Harrell was speeding when his vehicle clipped a pickup truck that proceeded to spin out of control, struck a guardrail and then traveled down an embankment, flipping in the process. According to the reports, the driver of the pickup was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. According to local News Channel 5, Harrell's Cadillac struck a retaining wall and stopped about a quarter of a mile away.

Harrell, who was also arrested on DUI charges last year, allegedly showed signs of impairment during the field sobriety test. He also allegedly admitted to police that he had been drinking hard cider and taking the prescription painkiller Lortab as well as a Xanax.

According to TMZ's report, the Davidson County Sheriff's deputies claimed to have discovered a plastic bag in Harrell's sock that contained more Xanax pills along with Oxycodone and Oxymorphone.

The bassist was charged with vehicular homicide and bringing a controlled substance into the jail. He's being held on $100,000 bond.

3 Doors Down issued a statement following the arrest on their website. It reads:

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Paul Howard Shoulders, Jr. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.

The group just announced a new leg of summer dates with Daughtry. It is not known how Harrell's status will affect the July and August run.
