30 Seconds to Mars fans are a committed bunch, but there are some fans who take their devotion to extremes. While speaking on England's XFM, frontman Jared Leto revealed that the strangest thing he's been sent over the years was an ear from an anonymous fan.

The rocker explained, "Someone cut their ear off once and sent it to me, that was very bizarre … The Van Gogh move, it was very strange. And the note just said, 'Are you listening?' I never knew who it was, and I don't know who's missing their ear out there." The vocalist joked of the gift, "I poked a hole in it and wore it as a necklace!"

In general, he says the band's fan base, known as The Echelon, are very forthcoming when it comes to bestowing gifts on the band members. He explained, "Going to a show is kind of like visiting Japan, you expect gifts on your arrival. You get all kinds of wonderful things." However, Leto urges fans not to try to top the idea of sending a body part. He concluded, "Just don't put your entire body in a case and send it to me."
