Aaron Lewis Can ‘Definitely See’ Staind Remaining ‘On Hold for a While’

It’s been a while since Staind‘s last album, which was an eponymous 2011 release. Though the band regrouped briefly in 2014 for a pair of festival performances, they re-entered their hiatus, allowing singer Aaron Lewis to continue touring and writing in support of his career as a solo country artist. With a handful of high profile reunions in 2016 and possibly more this year, could fans see Staind back in action as well?

While Lewis gave no hard timeline regarding a yes or no to this question, he told Planet Weekly, “I definitely see [Staind] staying on hold for awhile.” Of course, “awhile” is subjective, but with 2016’s country album Sinner to promote, the singer explained, “I’ve got to stay focused on this. I’ve got to take this to where it needs to get to before I can start risking things with the good ol’ boy network reception and throwing in a handful of Staind shows in the summertime along with all of my country shows.”

Intent on focusing on the here and now, Lewis added, “But that’s down the road. I can’t even think about that right now.”

The dedication to his country career is unwavering as these sentiments echo most of what was said in September of last year, though his stance on the possibility of summer shows had been a bit more liberal. “Do I think there’s room somewhere down the road for Staind to play shows in the summertime, radio festivals and stuff like that? Sure,” he told Rolling Stone, adding, “Do I think I have another one of those [Staind] records in me? Of course I do. All I have to do is live.”

Upon release, Lewis’ Sinner album ascended to No. 1 on the Top Country Album chart, selling over 80,000 copies in its first month. While Staind remains on the backburner, guitarist Mike Mushok has since formed Saint Asonia with members of Three Days Grace, Finger Eleven and Eye Empire. The band released their eponymous debut in 2015 and has been working on a second disc.
