Anthrax Perform on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers,’ Meet Robert De Niro

New York thrash icons Anthrax are celebrating their 35th anniversary in 2016. With their 11th studio album, For All Kings, netting their second-highest chart position ever, the band has put heavy support behind the record, including an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers.

Meyers introduces the group to a wave of applause from the studio audience, prefacing their performance noting Anthrax have been nominated for six Grammy awards and have sold over 10 million albums worldwide. The band launches into “Monster at the End,” one of the most melodic songs on the record, replete with unforgettable hooks. Each member of the thrash outfit is outfitted with the same work shirts, accented with white piping, though both bassist Frank Bello and drummer Charlie Benante chose to nix the sleeves entirely.

Also on set was legendary actor Robert De Niro, who joined the program to discuss the 40th anniversary of the classic Martin Scorsese-directed film Taxi Driver. A photo of Anthrax with De Niro can be viewed below.

Speaking about his role in Anthrax, Bello told Full Metal Jackie, “I love when creatively, number one, just making — the three of us usually get together, Charlie, Scott [Ian, guitar], myself, we get together in a room and jam a song out. I enjoy that moment where we’re looking at each other and knowing it’s right. I get maybe we’re together forever, that look that we all know. And we all know it’s going to go, it’s going to be an Anthrax song, you just know it.”

Anthrax will be heading back out on the road, providing direct support for Slayer on an upcoming North American tour. The trek kicks off on Sept. 9 in Cleveland, Ohio with Death Angel opening up each night. A full list of stops can be found at our 2016 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
