Let’s face it, Matt Cameron is one busy man. As drummer for two rock juggernauts – both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden – there was bound to be some overlap in their touring schedules. With the careers of both bands currently flourishing, that time has come, and Cameron has revealed his plans for 2014.
Fans who attended the Lamb of God show Tuesday night (Nov. 12) in Vancouver, British Columbia were probably a little surprised to see Fear Factory’s Matt DeVries playing bass for the band. According to reports, DeVries is the temporary replacement for John Campbell, who was recently sidelined by a family emergency.
Metal fans rejoiced back in 2010 and 2011 when the Big 4 of thrash (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax) joined forces for a handful of shows around the world, including the most recent one at New York's Yankee Stadium in September 2011. Fans still holding out hope that these four metal powerhouses might join forces again on the same stage in the future may not get their way.
Despite the success of their latest album, ‘Hail to the King,’ which arrived on Aug. 23, Avenged Sevenfold have had to deal with their fair share of detractors, including some trash talk from their peers in the metal world. Most notably, Machine Head’s Robb Flynn a very public dig at A7X, criticizing the band’s authenticity referring to their latest offering as a “covers album.”
