Avenged Sevenfold, Korn, Godsmack, Five Finger Death Punch + More Rock 48 Hours Festival

Over the weekend, a never ending cavalcade of today’s hottest rock bands marched into the Luxor Festival Grounds and set up shop. The two-day '48 Hours Festival’ boasted two jam-packed days of 22 bands playing on two stages. The show marked the first outdoor hard rock and metal festival to descend on the Vegas Strip, and with any luck, the first of many.

On Saturday, the main stage action kicked off early at 3PM with Otherwise. The night would see the likes of Adelitas Way, Escape the Fate, Hollywood Undead, Five Finger Death Punch and Avenged Sevenfold lay down musical assaults on the city of Sin.

But wait, there’s more! In case the main-stage action wasn’t your style, there was a second stage of music as well. The second stage sets kicked off at 5:40 PM with Hatebreed followed by a who’s who of up and comers including Black Tide, Hell or Highwater and Butcher Babies.

Judging from reviews, highlights of Saturday’s show included Five Finger Death Punch bringing the fun to their hometown crowd and Avenged Sevenfold delivering a rousing closing set.

For anyone who made it through Saturday’s marathon of rock, there were still 24 more hours worth of rock to take in! Sunday’s second stage action saw Vegas born band Taking Dawn as well as Art of Dying and a band many fans felt should have been on the mainstage – Sevendust, who never fail to lay down a punishing live show.

Sunday’s main stage action started off with 10 Years followed by Sick Puppies and then the heavy hitters of the night Seether, Three Days Grace, Godsmack and Korn.

Godsmack gave the audience a raw set capped off by lead singer Sully Erna declaring, “We brought no videos, and we brought no goddamn pyro.” Although they brought no pyro, they still brought the dueling drum solos of Erna versus Shannon Larkin, which is always a crowd pleaser.

Korn closed out day two with a set of their hits including 'Freak on a Leash,' 'Got the Life' and closed it out with 'Get Up!,' the first single from their forthcoming album ’The Path of Totality.’

If 48 hours of rock wasn’t enough – fans were also treated to autograph signings from most of the bands and live performances of the Metal Mulisha FMX Jump show.
