Most people in their mid-60s are thinking about retirement, but Black Sabbath are riding a wave of popularity and nonstop activity thanks to the success of last year’s album ’13.’ The disc was so well received that fans want to know if and when the band will record another album.

The founders of heavy metal have received a lot of accolades for ’13,’ including a Grammy for Best Metal Performance for the song ‘God Is Dead?.’ Sabbath said backstage at the Grammys that they are optimistic about doing another album, but now guitarist Tony Iommi has made it clear that there’s no definite plan to record in place.

“Well, the dust has settled on the Grammy’s now, great to win another one but what a palaver,” Iommi posted on his website. “As the East Coast is three hours ahead the televised part begins at 5pm so you’re leaving the hotel at lunchtime, all dolled up and ready for the red carpet!”

Iommi continues, ” It was good though, plenty of interest in the album still and endless questions about what we’re doing next. Well it’s shows in the U.S., Canada and Europe, so far too busy with that to be thinking about more recording.”

The band has a North American tour set to begin March 31 in Brooklyn. That trek wraps up in late April, then Black Sabbath head to Europe for several festivals and other shows in May and June.
