Whatever you've heard about not taking the brown acid, you might want to reconsider. The Brown Acid compilation series is back with The Seventh Trip, continuing to dig up gems from hard rock, heavy psych and proto-metal's early days that you'll definitely want to partake in. Loudwire is teaming up with the Brown Acid series to bring you the premiere of the disc's lead single, a heavy little ditty called "Peace of Mind" from Blizzard.

The Oklahoma-based outfit recorded "Peace of Mind" back in 1973, featuring a high school-aged Rod McClure. This slab of heaviness is filled with shred-tastic guitar work and top-notch drum fills. Take a listen in the player above.

The compilation also features such standouts as Pegasus' 1972 rocker "The Sorcerer," the aptly-titled 1967 rave-up "Good Times" from Nobody's Children, the fuzzed-out psychedelics of Third World's 1971 song "End of Time" and C.T. Pilferhogg's righteous rocker "You Haul." The full track listing can be seen below.

Lance Barresi, co-owner of L.A./Chicago retailer Permanent Records, tracks down these rare songs for the Brown Acid series and together with Daniel Hall of RidingEasy Records, they will unleash Brown Acid: The Seventh Trip on Oct. 31.

"I essentially go through hell and high water just to find these records," Barresi says. "Once I find a record worthy of tracking, I begin the (sometimes) extremely arduous process of contacting the band members and encouraging them to take part. Daniel and I agree that licensing all the tracks we're using for Brown Acid is best for everyone involved," rather than simply bootlegging the tracks. When all of the bands and labels haven't existed for 30-40 years or more, tracking down the creators gives all of these tunes a real second chance at success."

"There's a long list of songs that we'd love to include," Barresi continues, "But we just can't track the bands down. I like the idea that Brown Acid is getting so much attention, so people might reach out to us."

Pre-orders for Brown Acid: The Seventh Trip are now available at this location.
