Welcome to the Quarter Finals of Loudwire's Extreme Metal Olympics! We've had an insane week so far, with some of the heaviest, most influential and innovative bands within the realm of brutality battling for the gold. Beginning with 32 bands representing their homelands, we're now down to eight.

We've got a great batch of bands competing in this next round of the Extreme Metal Olympics. Featuring bands from Finland, France, Sweden and Poland, Group 3 is shaping up to be one of the most interesting brackets in our Extreme Metal Olympics.
Group two in the Extreme Metal Olympics contains some of the most purely brutal bands from around the globe. The winners from the Opening Round will now compete in some of the most diverse battles offered in the Extreme Metal Olympic groups.
Welcome to the second round of the Extreme Metal Olympics, where some of the world's heaviest and most iconic bands defend their country's honor in a series of battles to the death. Each band has been chosen for their importance and contributions to death metal, black metal, extreme metal, grindcore and other various offshoots. 16 bands have emerged victorious from the Opening Round, and have advanced to compete in Round Two.
In the fourth and final group of the Extreme Metal Olympics' Opening Round, we've got another batch of eclectic mixes. Hailing from countries such as Canada, Austria, Japan and Belgium, these eight bands are among the 32 acts vying for the gold in Loudwire's Extreme Metal Olympics.
Group 3 in our Extreme Metal Olympics showcases more heavier-than-hell bands from around the world. During the course of the London Olympics Games, 32 metal bands will be representing their homelands in Loudwire's Extreme Metal Olympics -- competing in a series of battles to bring home the gold.
Group 2 in the Opening Round of the Extreme Metal Olympics contains eight of metal's most purely brutal bands that fall under the genres of death metal, black metal, thrash and extreme metal. They are among the 32 bands competing to move to the next round of the Extreme Metal Olympics.
We're kicking off the Opening Round of our Extreme Metal Olympics with some of the heaviest and most legendary innovators of brutality from around the world. Featuring acts from countries such as the USA, Norway, Germany and Greece, Group 1 includes eight of the 32 bands who will compete for gold as the Extreme Metal Olympics runs side-by-side the 2012 London Olympic Games.
