Children of Bodom will have a different look the next time you see them. The group has split with guitarist Roope Latvala, who spent the last decade with the band. According to a statement from the Finnish metal outfit, the split with Latvala was an amicable one.

In a post on their Facebook page, the band explained, "As we parted ways with no bad blood, we wish him nothing but the best and thank him for allowing us to share the last twelve years of our lives with him. [We] hope [the fans] know that this will not affect the upcoming shows or the new album as we recorded it as a four-piece and it is already mixed, mastered, heavy as s--t and ready to go!"

Latvala joined Children of Bodom in 2003 in the middle of their world tour, replacing Alexander Kuoppala. Roope reportedly contacted the band after learning of their short time span for finding a new guitarist and picked up the material rather quickly so that they could resume their touring. His first appearance on an album was 2005's Are You Dead Yet? and he's since appeared on Blooddrunk, Relentless Reckless Forever and Halo of Blood.

As for their new album, the Children of Bodom began recording the disc earlier this year. Frontman Alexi Laiho and keyboardist Janne Wirman recently checked in with an update letting fans know they were in the home stretch for the upcoming disc. Look for a new studio album expected to arrive this fall.
