Great music knows no boundaries and it says a lot about the life and musical legacy of late country music great George Jones that those responding to his death include musicians that fall outside of his genre. Jones passed away Friday (April 26) at the age of 81 after a much-celebrated career in country music.

Jones enjoyed a wealth of No. 1 country songs, beginning with 'White Lightning' in 1959 and continuing through 'I Always Get Lucky With You' in 1983. Some of his biggest hits were 'She Thinks I Still Care,' 'He Stopped Loving Her Today' and 'I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool,' a duet with country superstar Barbara Mandrell.

Jones was set to tour this spring, but was recently hospitalized with a fever and irregular blood pressure and died after suffering acute hypoxia. He had intended to retire from music after the 2013 run to spend more time with his family.
