Dave Mustaine achieved a win over System of a Down vocalist Serj Tankian in a battle of the diametrically opposed in Round 1 of the President of Heavy Metal election. The Megadeth frontman has a legendary career to push him into the finals, along with some pretty strong political beliefs on the far right. Can one of metal’s most iconic and outspoken musicians grab a win in the quarterfinals?

The fans of horror musician Rob Zombie were just able to push their icon through to the quarterfinals with an incredible win over Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson. Maybe it’s the Halloween spirit, maybe it’s his tenure with White Zombie along with his abundance of solo material, or maybe it’s Zombie’s big-screen movies? Regardless, the undead one moves on.
