David Gold, the frontman for Canadian doom metal band Woods of Ypres, died in a car accident at the age of 31. The accident which took his life occurred on Dec. 22, 2011 in the Canadian city of Barrie, Ontario.
Formed in Canadian during 2002, Woods of Ypres rose to become one of the most influential doom bands in modern metal. Woods of Ypres signed with Earache Records in 2010 and will release label debut, 'Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light,' on Feb. 13, 2012. Although plans for 'Grey Skies & Electric Light' will still go forward, Woods of Ypres have disbanded due to their frontman's passing.
