Polish death metal legends Decapitated have just dropped two pieces of big news. First off, Decapitated announced their return to the studio to record their sixth full-length album. Also, the metallers have officially introduced Michal Lysejko as their new drummer.

Tragedy struck Decapitated in 2007 when original drummer Witold 'Vitek' Kiełtyka died after the band's tour bus collided with a truck carrying wood. 'Vitek' suffered serious head injuries although his condition seemed to be improving in the few days following the accident. However, the drummer sadly passed away at the young age of 23 just four days after the crash.

After a short break, Decapitated reformed in 2009 with Kerim 'Krimh' Lechner manning the drum throne in time to record the band's 2011 album, 'Carnival is Forever.' 'Krimh' left Decapitated in 2012, forcing the Polish metal act to recruit live drummers for touring cycles.

Decapitated guitarist Waclaw 'Vogg' Kieltyka released a statement on the band's Facebook page announcing both the studio news and Lysejko's arrival as Decapitated's new drummer:

We would like to share few news with you. All you know that we've been quite busy lately. We had some personal changes in the band and also we did I guess the best tours we had; with MESHUGGAH, LAMB OF GOD and CHILDREN OF BODOM. First of all we want to introduce you DECAPITATED new drummer Michal Lysejko. Some of you had a chance to meet him already during tour with LAMB OF GOD this January. Also I want to say THANK YOU to the rest of the people who took a challenge and sent their video for an audition.

Also since January this year we signed worldwide management contract with Continental Concerts & Management. That's for sure big step and opportunity for us and big challenge. But I guess the most important news for most of you is that after almost nine years we back to Hertz Studio (albums: »Nihility«, »The Negation«, »Organic Hallucinosis«) to record new album which will be released autumn this year. We will inform you about details soon. Keep it touch!!

Decapitated are scheduled to play a handful of festival dates this year. For the full list of shows, check out the band's official website.
